This is the second part of the Health Education introductory course sequence, so you should have completed HLTH 41 or its equivalent. This course covers topics you’ve undoubtedly heard about to some extent. The content of this course should help you expand your knowledge.

There are seven units and a final exam. A number of the units include activities which will more fully personalize the content for you. Each unit includes Self Check questions and a graded unit quiz. The Self Check questions allow you to test yourself on how well you understand the basic concepts that are presented in the unit. The unit quizzes test your knowledge, and you will receive a grade for each one. Use the Self Check questions in each Lesson to help you prepare for the unit quizzes.
Unit 1 and Unit 2 will provide you opportunties to submit original writing/creations to demonstrate your mastery of the concepts presented. Look for directions on completing and submitting these assignments in the units.
Throughout each unit, you will be asked a series of questions to check your mastery of the information in the unit. These self checks questions do not count toward your grade for the course and you may retake them as many times as you want.
You will submit unit quizzes at the end of units. These assignments consist of multiple-choice questions that will test your understanding of the objectives and concepts learned in each lesson. These assignments are submitted for grading and count toward your final grade.
There are two instructor-graded assignments in this course. A poster creation activity after unit 1 related to UV exposure, and an advocacy essay after unit 2 related to regular health exams. These are opportunities for you to create personal responses to very real issues in health. You will submit your work through the assignment submission locations in your course.
The final exam will consist of 80 multiple choice questions taken from the lessons. You will have the opportunity to retake the final exam one time if you perform poorly on the first attempt.
Your grade will be based on your performance on the unit quizzes and the final exam. The point and percentage breakdown is as follows:
