Prerequisite:An "advanced" score on the 300-Level German Placement Test (administered in GERM 301 [Intermediate German] or GERM 330 [Cultural History of German Speaking Peoples]).
Description:Integration of different aspects of language learning, including speaking, listening, culture, writing, reading, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.

Online Courses:Course materials are accessed online, and all assignments must be submitted online. Optional course readings may be available but do not include the self-check assignments or graded assignments.
Notes:Required for German major or minor. Geared toward the advanced level language learner. Credit for this BYU Independent Study course cannot be applied to the requirements for obtaining language credit by examination (returned missionaries and others) for Brigham Young University core. Students will be required to communicate with the teacher via phone, Skype™, or Adobe® Connect™ to demonstrate spoken German skills. In addition to the textbooks, the course requires listening to several German songs available on iTunes and other popular music sites.
