Basic Clothing Construction
Description:This course introduces students to the basic principles and skills required to sew, including design concepts, selecting and preparing patterns, operating sewing equipment, and completing sewing projects. Students in this course will submit portfolio assignments to the instructor for a grade.
Course Content:Unit 1: Fashion Strategies
Unit 2: Sewing Equipment
Unit 3: Patterns
Unit 4: Pattern Sizing and Fitting
Unit 5: Fabric Selection, Preparation, and Notions
Unit 6: Layout, Marking, and Cutting
Online Courses:Course materials are accessed online, and all assignments must be submitted online. Optional course readings may be available but do not include the self-check assignments or graded assignments.
Notes:Students will need a sewing machine, sewing manual and other items listed in the course syllabus. Students will need to mail in projects at two points in the course.
